Super 8

So a while back a trailer was released for the Steven Spielberg produced JJ Abrams flick "Super 8". The trailer was very reminiscent of the trailer for the Abrams produced film "Cloverfield" meaning it told us nothing, literally nothing about what the film was about. The trailer involved a train wreck.....that's about it.

Fast forward a little while and we know a bit more about the highly kept secret film. According to writer/director Abrams, its a throwback, or love letter of sorts to the old school films done by Spielberg and Amblin entertainment back in Spielbergs hay day. Think "Close Encounters of the Third Kind", "E.T." "The Goonies" and "Stand By Me" as references. That is enough to get me excited. Films like the old Spielberg movies just don't happen anymore. They were all heartfelt, fun, funny and exciting. Somehow that got lost as time went on, even Spielberg seems to have lost it, as was evident with "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull".

If Abrams pulls it off, which I have complete confidence he will, we are in for a really great time and its now become one of my, if not my most anticipated film of this summer. Its release date is set for June 10Th and I can't wait.

With the Super Bowl we got a 30 second or so television spot which shows a little more than just a train crashing, and it looks awesome.
